AWC Planners Workshop – Speaker Spotlight: Edge Design Group

Last Week Michelle Gainey of Lemiga Events and my collaborative partner in the Atlanta Wedding Creative unveiled her Speaker Spotlight on Tamara Gollob the fabulous Couture Custom Linen maven who will be joining us at our first Planning & Design Workshop with The Atlanta Wedding Creative, scheduled for February 18th and 19th. As Michelle mentioned, we have an all star list of speakers to inspire our attendees and I wanted to spotlight a few of them. Today we feature Maxine and Gabrielle Mecca of Edge Design Group

To say that Maxine & Gabrielle are amongst the most fabulously talented design teams I have ever worked with in all my years of planning would be an understatement! They are FABULOUS! I began working with them in 2008 when I was working on a NFL wedding and from our first meeting – I knew that not only did I find my design home in Atlanta, but that Maxine was as open and energetic and excited for my client’s weddings as I was. Their work is always exceptional! They design couture weddings and events for their clients. Together Maxine and Gabrielle have over 35 years in the floral design industry!

I have had the privilege of working with The team from Edge on many of my favorite weddings and each time we have created something new, fabulous and exciting for our clients! I am known for the phrase “Bringing the fabulous” but it is this team that allows me to keep than mantle! Their knowledge, passion and commitment to our industry is boundless!

Vendor Spotlight – Tierra Burrell – Make up Artist Extraodinaire!

It’s time to meet one of my favorite vendors of all time! Tierra Burrell of Make up by Tierra and the creator of Actual Cosmetics. She is one of the fiercest people in the industry when it comes to make up artistry and an all around awesome lady!

Every major celeb has been in her hands and her lists of A-List clients is amazing! In the biz when someone has a face that is beautifully made up we say that “her mug is beat!” Well Tierra is the best at beating a mug! When you are in your hands you will look amazing when you step down the aisle!

We caught up with the DIVA of cosmetics for a quick chat, and sip of bubbles to find out what makes her tick!

What is it that you love about weddings?

The thing I love about weddings is the fact that I am there for a couples special moment and doing what I love (make-up) to assist making their special day memorable.

You are so dedicated to your craft – what is it that keeps you going?
The thing that keeps me going is I love being able to have a positive effect on how a person views themselves! I am able to change the reflection in the mirror!

Do you have a favorite wedding that you worked on…can you tell us why it was so special to you?
My favorite wedding has to be the nuptials of Sabrina & Brandon LaFleur! That was the first time I worked with you Brian!! The whole ceremony and wedding was completely magical! I was honored to be a part of that joyous event. That wedding led to many other events, weddings and opportunities to work with other brides.

What made you decide to get into the wedding/events industry?
During my first wedding job in 2005, I recognized how a wedding is more than an event but the opportunity to do what I love and know that my services are appreciated as the first/last impression of someones “big” day.

Majority of my traditional make-up application…I do Not use foundation!

What would be your advise to people who are thinking about coming into the industry?
Stay grounded and always leave a positive lasting impression to those you meet, work with, and/or work on.

Outside of your business – what do you love to do in your free time?

Outside of the beauty industry, I read a lot and am a super home body!

If you could order your favorite meal – what would it be?

Hmmm my favorite meal…. I love Thai food and anything with Carbs! lol So pretty much anything that consists of noodles and spices! However, I am a vegetarian so NO meat!

What is the best thing about your job?

The best thing about my job has to be the diversity of people I have the opportunity to meet, connect with, learn from, and service!

Is there a phrase or quote that you love that best defines how you live your life?

Happy Fabulous Sunday my Fab-Followers!

I guess I am super excited today because we are coming up to Thanksgiving and it’s one of my favorite times of the year! (It is also almost vacation time!!)
